If you are a basketball fan, you've possibly had your eyes glued on your bracket during the last month. Similarly, Mrs. Rowley organized a music bracket where different categories of music went head to head. Do woodwinds win out over brass? Does percussion "beat" them all? Find out by asking these students about their music bracket with Mrs. Rowley!

Happy Week of the Young Child! This is a week recognizing that children’s opportunities are our responsibilities and to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment-at home, at child care, at school, and in the community-that will promote their learning. Today we know more than ever before about the importance of children’s earliest years in shaping their learning and development. Yet, never before have the needs of young children and their families been more pressing.
Mayor Evans visited Minden Public Preschool and signed a proclamation recognizing the importance of early childhood education.

Tips for Parent-Child Play from the National Institute of Play:
Playing with your child can be good for you too. Achieving a play state together strengthens your bond and builds great memories. Some tips:
Let your child play alone unless invited to join. Don’t butt in.
If you are invited, let your child set the direction and pace of play.
Listen to what they are saying and accept it. Build on it with “yes, and” instead of “no, but.”
Respond with age-appropriate actions and encouragement.
Get lost in the fun. You don’t have to look for teachable moments.

Invention convention practice is in full swing! The big day is Thursday for these third graders.

Building three dimensional shapes AND giving our fingers a strength work out.

Kindergarten students visited Pioneer Village as a follow up to learning about colonial times. They even got to see the blacksmith in action.

Our third graders recently candled their chicks. Each day volunteers read over the intercom so the whole school learns about their daily development.

Mrs. Steen's art classes have added a pop of color everywhere you look.
