Congratulations to the speech team on taking 6th place as a team at the Class B State Speech Meet today! Arabella Reed was 3rd place in Humorous prose and 4th place in Program Oral Interpretation. Frank Kovacs was 6th in persuasive!

Minden has put three events in the Class B State Speech Finals today: Frank Kovacs in Persuasive Speaking and Arabella Reed in both Program Oral Interpretation and Humorous Prose. The entire team has competed well today. Results to follow this evening!


The Speech Team will be in action on Saturday, March 28 at The Class B State Speech Meet at Horizon Middle School in Kearney. The meet is open to the public and no admission is charged. Good luck to the team as they compete at state! Full meet schematic is available at speechwire.com.

Congratulations to Rusty Rhynalds, MPS Board President, for being awarded the 2026 NRCSA Board Member of the Year. Our Board does an outstanding job, and Rusty has led our district with compassion and dedication for our kids and staff.

EXCITING NEWS! The speech team will host a FREE encore performance night of our STATE qualifying events on Monday, March 23 at 7:00 in the high school media center. Please park on the north side of the building and enter through the superintendent's office entrance.

For the first time since 2017, the Minden Speech team has been crowned district champs. The team pushed 17 of 20 events into finals at the B5 meet on Monday. The top three finishers in each event qualify for state. Eleven of Minden's events finished in the top three. It was a fabulous day to be a whippet! Congrats to the Holdrege Dusters on their runner-up finish!

The Whippet Speech Team is in competition at the B5 District Speech Meet today in Aurora. The team has pushed 17 of 20 events into the finals. Results to follow later!
The Speech Team had a great day at Southwest Conference Speech earning 2nd place as a team. Sixteen of twenty events made it to finals. The team heads to districts on Monday, March 16. The district tournament will be held in Aurora.

The speech team had a great weekend as the varsity team went to Grand Island Northwest and the novice group headed to Loup City. The final invitational meet of the year is this Saturday in Holdrege. The team will host their annual speech showcase next Tuesday, March 3 at the high school. Watch for details!


The Whippet boys basketball season ended tonight with a loss to Doniphan Trumbull at subdistricts. The boys fought hard all season and finished with a respectable 13 wins! Thank you to the seniors for the leadership and consistent great effort throughout your careers! GO WHIPPETS!!
