This month's SRO message is about conflict resolution....
What is a conflict? It's a disagreement or problem between people that can happen at school or home. It's a normal problem everyone experiences sometimes.
Common causes. Misunderstandings, different opinions, feeling left out or disrespected, competition or jealousy and not listening.
Why is it important to resolve conflicts? Resolutions keeps friendships strong, helps you feel safe and heard, teaches teamwork and respect and prevents arguments from getting worse.
Steps to resolve conflicts. Cool Off: take a deep breath or walk away. Share Feelings: Use "I" statements, " I feel__when__". Listen to Each Other: really hear what the other person is saying. Find a Solution Together: both parties think of ways to fix the problem. Agree and Move On: make a plan and stick to it.
Cool Down Tips: count to 10, take a deep breath, draw or journal how you feel, talk with a trusted friend/family member.
Ask for help if you've tried solving the problem and it's not working.
Thanks!!
