I teach 9th and 12th grade English at Minden High School.
Ainsworth High School in Ainsworth, Nebraska is where I earned my high-school diploma.
Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska is where I earned my bachelor's degree in education. There I was a member of the cross country and track & field teams for the four years of my undergraduate education. At Midland I worked as a writing consultant/tutor at the Midland University Writing Center where I collaborated with students across the spectrum of practices to help establish writing success. I graduated from Midland University in May of 2017.
This is my first year of teaching, and I am beyond excited to be a member of the learning community in Minden. As an educator, I am a firm believer that it is my duty to engage, facilitate, and guide students toward practicing and learning HOW to think rather than WHAT to think.
My class schedule for the 2017-18 school year is as follows:
1st period: General English 12
2nd period: General English 12
3rd period: English 12
4th period: English 12
5th period: English 9
6th Period: English 9
The academic goal for General English 12 is to practice developing practical reading, writing, and speaking skills for students' lives after high school.
The academic goal for English 12 is to elevate toward reading college-level texts, prepare for college-level academic writing, and practice research strategies.
The academic goal for English 9 is to delve into learning grammatical rules and functions, to formulate writing strategies over various topics, and to employ critical-thinking skills for social and academic success.
